Intended Use

Sialylated carbohydrate antigen KL-6 Assay Kit is used for the quantitative detection of sialylated carbohydrate antigen KL-6 in human whole blood, serum, or plasma specimens in vitro.

Summary

Sialylated carbohydrate antigen Krebs von den Lungen-6 (KL-6) is a high-molecular weight glycoprotein, which is mainly expressed on type II pneumocytes. Numerous studies showed that KL-6 is a biomarker which could indicate the extent of damage of type II pneumocystes. The concentration of KL-6 in human blood samples has been used as an auxiliary diagnosis for interstitial lung disease (ILD).

Assay Principle

When an antigen-antibody reaction occurs between KL-6 in a sample and anti-Kl-6 antibody, which has been linked to latex particles, agglutination results. This agglutination is detected as a change of intensity of light scattering from the agglutinates, with the changing rate being proportional to the concentration of KL-6 in the sample. Based on the calibration curve loaded on the calibration card, KL-6 concentration in the sample can be determined.
